Day 1: Tangier _ Chefchaouen
On the first day of this 7-Day Trip Tangier to Imperial Cities, we will pick you up from the airport/port and drive you to Chfchaouen (the blue city) via the Rif mountains and Tetouan city, where you will be able to take in the breathtaking views of the highlands. Spend the night in your Riad or Hotel.
Day 2: Chefchaouen _ Volubilis _Meknes _ Fes
After breakfast in the riad, we will set off on an authentic journey to Volubilis, passing via Ouazan and other Rif towns along the way. In Volubilis, we will visit the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco and learn about the archaeological site of Moroccan history.
Following our excursion to the ruins, we will travel to Meknes, a 17th-century city where we will stop for lunch and explore the old medina’s massive walls, featuring the bab el Mansour and Moulay Ismail tomb. We will drive straight to Fes city after our tour to Meknes, where you will spend the night.
Day 3: Fes Sightseeing Tour with a local guide
Today you will be taken on a guided tour of Fes’ medina and famed Souks, which are lined with ancient mosques and towering green-glazed minarets, as well as the unique Andalusian architecture found in every nook of the old city and its monuments.
We’ll make sure you see all the cultural and historical landmarks, including the renowned Al Qaraouine University. The tour will also include a stop to a tannery and a pottery cooperative to learn about traditional Moroccan crafts. Overnight stay in a hotel or riad.
Day 4: Fes _ Azrou cedar forest _ Midelt _ Merzouga (Erg Chebbi Dunes)
We will collect you up from your hotel/riad and drive you south to Azrou via Ifrane (Switzerland of Morocco) and then to the Middle Atlas highlands, stopping by a cedar forest for some wonderful shots with the Barbarian Apes.
We’ll continue our journey through the Atlas Mountains, taking in the scenery of Midelt. After lunch, we’ll travel through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani, and Merzouga. Stay the night at a local hotel.
Day 5: Merzouga area and the Camel Trekking with Night in desert camp
After breakfast, we’ll begin our exploration of the area by visiting a Mali-based black hamlet to hear their music and see how they live.
After that, we’ll drive to Miffis Mines to learn more about how they operate before heading behind the Dunes, where we’ll sit for a warm cup of tea with the local Bedouins in a full desert with stunning views.
After a cup of tea, your local guides will teach you how to ride and disembark your camel, as well as other useful camel-related safety instructions, before you begin exploring the mystical Erg-Chebbi sand-sea.
A Berber tent will be your home for the night.
Day 6: Merzouga _ Jerf _ Todgha Gorges _Dades Valley

Then we’ll stop for a short break at the Atlas Film Studios in Ouarzazate before heading to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Morocco’s largest Kasbah, built by T-Hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains, at the turn of the century. It used to be one of his stops on his long journey from the Sahara to Marrakech.
A visit to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, which has been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1987.
