Tour Program of : 5 Days Tour From Marrakech to Merzouga
Day 1 : MARRAKECH – ATLAS MOUNTAINS – KASBAH AIT BEN HADDOU – ouarzazate
You will be picked up from your accommodation , and transported across the famed High Atlas Mountains chain, passing through the Tizi N Tichka pass (2260m), Morocco’s highest pass.
You will be awestruck by the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and Berber villages as you arrive at the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you will be taken on a walking tour to learn about its background and history as one of the most sought-after locations for filming many famous films such as “Lawrence of Arabia (1962), “The Jewel of the Nile (1985), “Queen Of The Desert”, “Gladiator (2000) (2013).
The next destination will be Ouarzazate, also known as “Africa’s Hollywood,” where you will spend the first night of your 5-day desert journey from Marrakech to Merzouga.
Day 2: ouarzazate – MERZOUga
After breakfast, you will continue your 5-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, crossing the Anti Atlas Mountains’ volcanic rock formations via the Draa Valley to Agdez and Tamnougalt. After that, you’ll drive through Nkob, a small Berber hamlet noted for its numerous Kasbahs and as the starting point for a walk to Dades across the Jabel Saghro (Saghro Mountain).
On the route to Rissani, a Saharan town known for its traditional enormous market, if not the most important and largest in the southeast of the country, where many nomads come either for shopping or selling. Rissani market is the nearest (35 km) to Merzouga desert as well as all Erg Chebbi bordering communities in that big area.
In addition, you will go to one of the most popular desert places, the Erg Chebbi Sahara desert, where you will eat your meal followed by a music party (Berber drums) around the campfire and spend the night in a well-equipped tented camp while witnessing the sunset.
Day 3: MERZOUGA_nomad families_gnawa music
Today, you have a unique morning in the Sahara; it is well worth rising up to see the stunning sunrise over the sand dunes, before eating breakfast and freshening up, and riding the camels back to the departure point to meet your driver at the dune line.
Then go on an off-road discovery tour of the surrounding villages, such as Hassi Labied and Khamlia, where you’ll find a lot of dark-skinned musicians who enjoy Gnawa music, which originated in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Visit Mefes village, an abandoned tiny town famous for its lead mines, followed by a date with a nomad family living on the outskirts of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.
You can rest at your accommodation in the afternoon, or you can go back to the dunes and watch the sunset once more, or finish your day with an hour of ATV Quad biking on the dunes (Not included in the tour price). The hotel is where we spend the night.
Day 4 MERZOUGA – Erfoud _Dades Valley
After a full breakfast at your hotel, you meet up with your driver and go back from the desert to Dades Valley, stopping in Erfoud, a small town famed for its petrified rocks.
Aside from Todra, we’ll continue our visit to Todra Gorges and its stunning gorges, which are a hidden jewel for rock climbers. You can have a leisurely stroll here before heading to your Dades Valley hotel for the night.
Day 5: Dades valley – Atlas mountain _Marrakech
After breakfast at your accommodation in Dades, continue your 5 Days Tour From Marrakch to Merzouga, traveling through Kelaa Mgouna, the city of flowers, and Skoura palmary before returning to Marrakech through Ouarzazate and the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
